Mark Melville graduated the State University of New York in Geneseo in 1984 as a dual major in Political Science and Fine Arts. Torn between Law School or perusing a career as a sculptor, fate came knocking as an opportunity to be a videographer for Teleregione a television station in Florence, Italy. Although an entry-level position shooting internal material for the station, Mark saw the endless creative possibilities through visual imagery.

As Mark's experience grew he was offered an in house job at Centro Cinematografico Fiorentino a Florence, Italy based production company specializing in corporate clients and small commercials. With an increasing interest in narrative filmmaking rather than television production his current job would not prove engaging enough to quench his thirst for bigger projects.

That opportunity came in the form of the Italian feature film “Mai con le Donne” as loader in the camera department for Franco Di Giacommo, "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly". Mark at that point realized he would not truly be happy until he reached the position of Director Photography.

On a work related trip to Rome, he met David Mckenzie, President of Associated Television International a Los Angeles based television production company. With a job offer in hand, he moved from Italy to Los Angeles, where he eventually became V.P of Production and later Head of Development.

Mark took a leave of absence to follow his true passion, Cinematography and shoot the short film “Hunters in the Snow” directed by James Mangold (Heavy, Copland, Kate & Leopold, Identity, Walk the Line). The film went on to win numerous awards in the short film category at major film festivals.

As with all entertainment related trades, Cinematography proved to be a difficult career path in a heavily competitive field. Mark having traveled the world extensively and equiped with the percpective of two cultures was able to differentiate himself from the pack by bringing his unique vision to projects.

Mark has shot numerous feature films, television series, commercials and music videos in the course of his career. He has worked for Paramount Pictures, Universal Studios, HBO Production, 20th Century Fox, Warner Brothers and for various independent production companies.

He is currently represented by Owen Massey at Diverse Talent Group..
